Curricula

Indi Kids follows The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, and Links to Learning School-Age Programs.

Our program environments stress interaction and exploration with adults and other children, as well as a wide variety of experiences and materials.

Child-initiated, teacher-supported play is an essential component of our daily schedule.

Our purpose is to work with parents and children to foster each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development to the fullest potential.

We value and consider the individual strengths and developmental needs of each child.

Infant/Toddler Curriculum

More learning takes place during the first three years of a child’s life than any other period. Your child will grow and learn in all areas of development: emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively. Some important concepts that your child will be learning about include: self, feelings, other people, communicating, moving, doing, and thinking.

Our infant and toddler program follows The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, & Twos. Parents may borrow Teaching Strategies, Inc.®  “A Parent’s Guide to Infant/Toddler Programs”  from the main office. This book explains the partnership between the center and the family, what your child is learning, how the staff guides behavior, and much more.

Preschool Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool identifies goals in four areas of development: Social/Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language.

We accomplish the goals of the curriculum through the activities and experiences that we plan, the way we set up the environment, the daily schedule, and the materials and toys we select. We want to give your child a successful start in school and life.

Parent’s may borrow Teaching Strategies, Inc.®   “A Parent’s Guide to Preschool” from the main office. This book will explain how your preschool child learns, what children learn in preschool, how we know children are learning. and much more.

School-Age Curriculum

Our school-age centers follow the Links to Learning curriculum. This curriculum guide for school-age programs provides an overview of learning and child development related to out-of-school time. It offers tips and tools for selecting, planning, developing, and evaluating activities, as well as demonstrating how to link activities to the Pennsylvania Learning Standards. The curriculum focuses on seven “key learning areas”: Literacy, Science, Math Problem Solving, Arts, Social Competence, Fitness and Nutrition, and Technology.

We recognize that children change greatly during the school-age years and that the rate and nature of change varies considerably, both among children and across developmental areas within the same child. We approach these developmental realities as opportunities rather than as problems.

Self-selection of activities and experiences predominates our school-age program. We use positive guidance techniques and teach conflict resolution skills to help children achieve self-control, develop their consciences, and to become self-directed individuals who take responsibility for their own actions. Our activities and experiences contribute to all aspects of the child’s development and cooperation while promoting a healthy attitude towards competition, sound health, good safety and nutritional practices, and an awareness of and involvement in the area community.
